Brain Injury
A traumatic brain injury is one of the most serious and life-changing injuries a person can suffer. Brain injuries are especially common in motorcycle accidents and bicycle crashes, where riders have very little protection from the force of impact. Even when a helmet prevents a fatal injury, the violent impact of a collision can still cause serious trauma to the brain.
Many people who suffer head trauma after a motorcycle accident or bicycle crash require hospitalization, rehabilitation, and long-term medical treatment. Brain injuries can affect memory, concentration, speech, sleep, mood, coordination, and personality. Some injured people struggle with headaches, dizziness, confusion, anxiety, or emotional changes long after the accident itself.
These injuries can place enormous emotional and financial strain on an entire family. Medical bills, rehabilitation, missed work, and uncertainty about the future can quickly become overwhelming. Insurance companies often try to minimize brain injury claims or pressure injured people into settling before the full extent of the injury is understood.
We work to help injured accident victims obtain the medical treatment and financial support they need while pursuing compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, lost wages, and future loss of earning capacity.
Traumatic Brain Injury
A traumatic brain injury generally falls into one of two categories: hypoxic brain injury and anoxic brain injury.
Hypoxia occurs when the brain receives reduced levels of oxygen, causing damage that impairs brain function. Anoxia occurs when the brain is deprived of oxygen entirely for a period of time, causing brain cells to die. Anoxic brain injuries are generally more severe because the affected brain tissue may permanently lose function.
Head Trauma
Not all serious head injuries are immediately obvious after an accident. Some people initially believe they only suffered a mild concussion, only to later develop worsening headaches, dizziness, memory problems, mood changes, sleep disturbances, or difficulty concentrating.
Because symptoms often worsen over time, it is important not to rush into settling a brain injury claim before the full extent of the injury is understood and properly treated.
